Pre-Purchase Vehicle Inspection

Buying a used vehicle without a professional inspection can hide expensive issues. We meet the seller — at the dealership lot or at a private address — review the vehicle, run a diagnostic scan, and give you a clear picture of its condition before you commit.

STANDARD PRE-PURCHASE INSPECTION

$250

For most passenger cars, SUVs, and light-duty trucks. Includes an on-site inspection, diagnostic scan of available modules, road test when permitted, photos, and a written report.

Select luxury, exotic, high-performance, heavily modified, commercial, or unusually complex vehicles are quoted individually before scheduling.

When to schedule an inspection

  • "I'm about to buy a used car and want it inspected"
  • "The dealer says it's fine but I'd like a second opinion"
  • "I want to know what may need repair in the next year"
  • "I need an honest mechanical opinion before I sign"

What we check

  1. 01 Diagnostic scan of available modules, including stored, pending, and permanent codes, readiness-monitor status, and signs that codes may have been recently cleared where that information is available
  2. 02 Engine condition: leaks, sounds, smoke, coolant and oil condition
  3. 03 Transmission operation under load, fluid condition where accessible
  4. 04 Suspension and steering: bushings, ball joints, tie rods, struts, ride height
  5. 05 Brakes: pads, rotors, brake fluid, ABS function
  6. 06 Visible structural areas, body panels, glass, tires, and signs of previous collision or repair work

A pre-purchase inspection gives you a clearer picture of the vehicle before money changes hands. It can reveal immediate repairs, upcoming maintenance, and conditions that may affect your decision or negotiation.

After the inspection, you receive a written summary and supporting photos covering current condition, urgent concerns, upcoming needs, and normal wear. The inspection helps you evaluate whether the vehicle’s condition is consistent with the asking price.

Inspection limitations

A pre-purchase inspection is a non-destructive evaluation of accessible systems and components at the vehicle’s location. Hidden defects, intermittent faults, and conditions requiring disassembly or a lift may not be visible. The report reflects the vehicle’s condition at the time of inspection and is not a warranty.
