Emissions System Diagnosis & Repair

Emissions faults are a frequent reason for a check engine light and a failed inspection. The system is designed to control what comes out of the exhaust and the fuel tank, and small leaks or sensor faults trigger codes that need correct interpretation.

Common symptoms

  • "My car failed the emissions test"
  • "I have EVAP or oxygen sensor codes"
  • "My check engine light is emissions-related"
  • "I smell fuel vapors near the car"

What we check

  1. 01 Stored, pending and history codes across all relevant modules
  2. 02 EVAP system: smoke test for leaks, purge and vent valve operation
  3. 03 Oxygen sensor signals (upstream and downstream) at temperature
  4. 04 Selected EGR, DPF, and DEF system checks on diesel vehicles when applicable
  5. 05 Catalytic-converter efficiency using oxygen-sensor data and supporting tests

Emissions diagnosis is best completed before paying for another test. We confirm the cause, perform the repair when feasible, and verify the relevant system data afterward.

Some readiness monitors require additional driving before the vehicle is ready for an official emissions retest.

A note on shop equipment

Some repairs cannot be completed safely at a mobile location. After the diagnostic, we will tell you whether the work can be done on-site or whether shop equipment is required, before any repair begins.
