Timing belts and chains synchronize the crankshaft and camshafts. On many engines a broken timing belt causes immediate and severe internal damage. Replacement on schedule is essential — and far less expensive than a destroyed engine.

What we check
Timing belts on most engines should be replaced every 60,000 to 105,000 miles, depending on the manufacturer's schedule. The water pump and tensioner are commonly replaced at the same time because they share the labor.
Timing chains do not have a fixed replacement interval but can stretch or wear over time, often signaled by a rattle on cold start or timing-related fault codes.
A note on shop equipment
Timing belt and timing chain replacement is one of the few services that may require a shop for some platforms. After reviewing your vehicle we will tell you whether it can be done on-site.
